Gundecha Brothers Dhrupad workshops 2007.
about the workshop
The workshop will be run by the Gundecha Brothers and is the second of their bi-ennial Dhrupad workshops in Melbourne. The format will be similar to the 2005 workshop: participants will learn ‘hands on’ music in the ancient Dagar Dhrupad style. No prior experience is necessary and all teaching will be ‘by ear’.

** The introductory session will be run by Chris Sprague and will serve as a general introduction to Dhrupad style through three methods:
- listening to and discussing selected recordings.
- learning some basic material and exercises. Written material will be provided.
- watching some video footage from the Gundecha Brothers school in Bhopal, India.
This session is not compulsory, but is recommended, especially for those who have little or no experience of singing indian music. Chris has been a student of the Gundecha's since 2003.
